This has been quite a busy weekend for us. Our son is due December 12th so we wanted to make sure we took care of things around the house now, before it got too busy. Friday was budget day. I reviewed the statements and receipts to see where we could cut back on our spending. We then went out for dinner with some friends. Kind of a last hurrah as non-tethered-parents.
Saturday we went to everybody’s favorite tree lot (Home Depot) and pick out a nice (cheap) Douglas Fir and set it up. Then we stocked up on prepackaged food from Trader Joe’s and Costco – yum! By now, Julia was pretty tired so while she napped on the couch, I strung the lights around the tree. Then I was tired so while i rested Julia put the ornaments on. That’s team work.
After watching a few movies we went to bed. Then Julia went into labor and 4 hours later, Corbin Alexander was in our arms. I’ll post more when I’m fully rested but the key details are…
Corbin Alexander
Born Dec. 2nd @ 4:14am
8 lbs – 3 oz
22″ long
Good grief!! I was NOT expecting this!!!!!!!!!! Corbin is a VERY handsome little boy…and Julia looks great for having just pushed out such a big boy!!!! I can’t imagine how big he would have been in two more weeks!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! He’s adorable!!!!!!!
Congratulations!!! Hope he is healthy and that mom and dad are doing well also.
Oh my goodness! This is so exciting. And I agree with Jennifer, I was not expecting this. You sure do know how to put a plot twist into your posts.
Congratulations to you both. And I hope I get a chance to meet Corbin sometime in the near future.
Congratulations! How does it feel to be a father?
Jennifer, Wendy: We weren’t expecting this either. There are two options here. Either we had the date wrong all along or he was early and was destined to be even bigger (like me and my sister). The adjusted date would Kauai instead of the Grand Canyon Skywalk which was Julia’s first choice :)
Sirdar: We’re all doing great. Corbin has not been a fussy or noisy baby (unlike some of the others in the nursery. I’ll get into the details in a future post.
Mike: It feels great, wonderful and exciting. It’s hard to believe that this is my son and not just someone I’m baby sitting. It was even stranger to start calling him Corbin instead of just “baby” or “son”.
He’s here!!!! The office predictions proved to be correct! Congratulations to you and your entire family! He’s adorable.
How exciting. I hope you are getting some rest (both of you), when he sleeps. Congratulations.
Well, Happy Holidays!! You surprised me…I was not expecting him to be early! Maybe that’s a good sign for the future; I don’t know many menfolk who aren’t chronically late (lol…don’t tell my husband I said that!). Hope you are all well and rested now. Congratulations to you.
