This is why spammers suck and Akismet rocks! First, getting spam on your wordpress blog is a good sign. It means you’re showing up in the search engines and you look popular enough to spead their message. The bad news of course is that you’re getting lots of spam. Akismet is really good at catching it but sometimes it misses – or worse, tags a valid comment as spam. Below is the spam akismet nabbed on my other site – PhotoJulia.com – with the number of times the same spam was sent (via different IP addressl)
(x1) Superb! (I wrote something else and then I read below that I aint supposed ter. So I deleted it.)
(x6) Bonjour! What a super websight! Very refreshing to peruse from where we live in Paris (France). I eat frogs and drink wine. Woold like more informatons on this. Best regards! Mikael.
(x2) I got the same tramadol attack? well, not the same, because it was only about 20 comments instead of 90, and i t have any filtering set up, and I just deleted them one at a time? hmm.. the only thing really in common was that it was about tramadol? what filter do you have set up that caught them all?
(x2) I always have terrible trouble with comment-related plugins that require me to put some line in the comment loop; I can never seem to find the right spot. Can anyone tell me where I should put the php line in my comments loop? I haven not modified anything much, and I would be very grateful. Thanks!
Dude. These are SPAM comments?! You get some seriously classy stuff. These people seem to have actual language skills; I find that more than a little frightening.
I haven’t gotten any yet on my blog but I’m sure it will be advertising Viagra or something similar!!
One day, I’m going to come face-to-face with one of the cretins responsible for this scourge, and as God is my witness I won’t be able to control what I do.
At least that’s what I fantasize in my spare moments at the office.
Does anyone remember that we call it spam from that Monty Python sketch?
