Say what?!

Every now and then I get a comment that’s not exactly English – actually, it’s not even recognizable characters. Just a bunch of boxes with four characters within each quadrant. Turns out, its just the way my email was translating the Asian characters. Here’s a sample translation of an actual comment.

?? ??? ?? ??? ??? ???? ??

?? ? ???? ?? ?? ? ??? ??? ??? ??? ?? ??? ??? ???.

?? ???? ?? ?? ??? ???.

???? ????? ??? ????? ?? ??????,

??? ??? ?? ??? ??? ?? ?? ???? ??? ??.

Saddly, its spam but here’s what it says…

If you want to quickly raise the temperature goes humidifier

Back home after going out when the cold temperature of the boiler, not just the right temperature to raise the body.

Instead, turn on a humidifier adds moisture home.

You can work the floor as the boiler to be heated to warm the house,

High humidity air circulation is the effect this’ll go faster dewoji home soon.

And now you know (and knowing is half the battle)

  1. I just get boxes too, but it’s where we both don’t have the relevant font installed to display it natively.

I would look up the Unicode points to see what it should be but don’t have the time now unfortunately.

  2. 언어 팩이 역시 설치되지 않는 경우에 재미의 짐이다. It’s loads of fun if the language packs are not installed too.
