Looking at the results of my migration attempt this weekend, I was suprised to see this message:

Attempt finished on 6/24/2006 at 3:40 AMWe attempted to complete the migration of your site and encountered a quality issue. Our migration team is currently reviewing your site to attempt to correct the problem. If we are able to do so, we will complete your migration and notify you when it is complete.
Right off, I don’t know why it failed to work but upon a quick look, I suspect that one (or more) of my plugins didn’t work on the test site resulting in a mis-match between the two versions (old server vs. new server) I will probably try again with the responsible plugin turned off or just manually make the switch and fix any problems afterward. We’ll see.
If that had been any less specific it could pass for a political press release.
*Their* message, not your post. Talk about non-specific… :-)
Well, there were links to “Additional Information” but it it didn’t identify the problem. One link showed a side-by-side comparison of the site on each server. Everything looked right except the failed plugin. The plugin failed because “it was not validated on this site”. Meaning, since the site address changed for testing purposes, the plugin settings didn’t match. DUH!
I went ahead and manually made the switch, so hopefully everything is OK. If the gallery image is on the right hand side, then it works or you’re looking at the old server version (DNS transfers can take upto 24hrs)
After this, I will try the upgrades I’ve been talking about.
