Feeding Frenzy

Sorry to any of my feed subscribers who may be getting overwhelmed with feed updates. I was (still am) experimenting with my feeds and every time I do, the feed shows up as updated. I would suggest you disable the update notification on your feed reader until I get this straightened out.

In case you’re wondering, I’m trying to include ads to my feeds. This way, I can still earn some money from those who don’t actually visit the site. Once I get it working, i’ll tinker with the ad format so it’s not so “in-your-face” but right now, i just want bloglines and google reader to show my google adsense and textlink ads.

This feature could also be used for other purposes so once I figure it out, I’ll explain what I did in case you want to put it to good use on your site.

  1. Unfortunately, we cannot support directly embedded Javascript items due to security issues. This is fairly common practice for feed aggregators. The same goes for embedded flash (via the HTML ‘object’ tag). YouTube video content won’t be displayed in posts. Bloglines does, however, support referencing a flash SWF file as an enclosure in RSS. (Like you would reference an MP3 for a podcast). We regret any inconvenience.
