So Julia and I had a chance to get away this weekend, specifically, we traded off baby-sitting duties with another couple. Since Fridays are half days for me, we went to see a movie – a rare treat since Corbin was birthed. The current movie choices are a little limited so we decided on Coraline in 3D – and I’m glad I did.
In case you didn’t watch the above clip (or didn’t recognize it), that song is by They Might Be Giants (my favorite band). Any fan would realize that instantly but I hadn’t heard about it so it was a nice surprise. As for the movie, it was good too. A little dark and there are a couple of scenes I would describe as not child appropriate (think old lady burlesque – on second thought, don’t).
It was in 3D and I think it was worth the extra $2. it wasn’t all about things flying out at you and making you flinch (though there was some of that), but it gave it a real sense of seeing the movie as it happens. Since it was stop-motion animation, the 3D made it feel more real. Also, there were several 3D previews which was a nice treat.
Lyrics:
Making up a song about Coraline
She?s a peach she’s a doll she’s a pall of mine
She’s as cute as a BUTTON in the eyes of everyone who ever laid their eyes on Coraline
When she comes around exploring Mom and I will never ever make it boring Our eyes will be on Coraline
Grace just recommended this movie on Facebook. Although it’s not out here in Australia until May.
