Dear Webmasters of the World (or anyone who can answer) how do you handle your online advertisers? I have someone interested in advertising on my site but I’m not sure how to go about the whole “contract” and billing and such. So far, I’ve made my ‘fortune’ via Google AdSense, and Amazon Associates, all of which handle the dirty little details.
Specifically, here’s the “offer”
For the advertising, we would send you a sentence or two about one of our programs, containing a few links to our site and possibly also a link to supporting information at a major authority site on the same topic. The ad would be customized to fit the page that it was placed on. We are only looking for one ad on an interior page of your site. We can offer $10/month and would like to keep the ad up indefinitely. Please let me know if you have any questions or need more information.
It’s not much but it’s better than my last offer. Google AdSense and TextLinkAds both earn me more money than this but I need to figure out how to work with advertisers directly because one day, there may be a really good offer where sending an invoice via PayPal won’t suffice.
Found your site via SEOmoz. Wondering if you have an answer here? Please post your conclusions. Suggestion – post your question on LinkedIn.
archshrk responds: Dana, thanks for visiting and your suggestion. I haven’t found an answer yet but I haven’t looked very hard either. The LinkedIn idea is really good so I’ll probably do that. I could also just ask the advertiser how they planned to handle this since they approached me and my previous advertising was a pre-paid 1-year arrangement not an open ended monthly arrangement.
