This may not be important to you, but since a lot of people use Gmail but don’t read the Gmail blog, I thought I’d pass this on.
Official Gmail Blog: New in Labs: Browser title bar tweaks
Basically, Title Tweaks changes the order of the elements in the browser title bar to put the more important things first. Once you turn on Title Tweaks from the Labs tab under Settings, your browser title bar will display something more like “Inbox (3) – Gma…”.
The real advantage is that you can see if you’ve received that important email (new forum registration) without having to switch windows or tabs. More importantly, it’s not as in-your-face like some recent Labs features – Multiple Inboxes anyone? OK, to be fair, the Multiple Inboxes Lab is good and probably well overdue but its not for everyone and its a pretty dramatic change to the Gmail experience.
No doubt this is a good feature, but if you are using fire fox, there is a pretty good add-on called mail notifier. Using which, it alerts you if you have a new e-mail without having to sign in to gmail.
But again this is a really good and useful tweak. thanks.
I use gmail as a pop3 only. Never tried to just use the online version.
but the tweak is for the online version, right?
Yes, this is a Gmail.com feature. I never realy considered usimg Gmail for pop3 email. I knew you could, just never understood why you would.
but you said you use pop3.
Sorry, that wasn’t me (archshrk) – that was the previous commenter (Sidar)
oh, ok. sorry my bad, i got confused.
No problem. I’ve toyed with the idea of making my comments look different then visitor comments but I like the current look so much. I did add gravatars, but sonicwall blocks those now, so many people will not see them anymore. Do you see little pictures next to the comments?
yes i can see that, u have a dolphin pic right?
