No eggs were lost and no one tossed their cookies either :)
I’ve lived in So Cal for over 30 years and that was one of the longest quakes I’ve been through. Not nearly as bad as the 1994 Northridge Earthquake but pretty strong, all the same.
Duration is a hard thing to pin down. the effect of the quake could be shorter or longer depending where you are when it hits. Plus, it always seems longer than it really is.
That said, most quakes last from 3-10 seconds, some go on for more but this one felt like a good 25-30 seconds.
We were in Toronto & missed it! Glad to hear there was no damage around SD. I think one sheet of paper landed on the floor in our house as a result of the quake, but then, we might just be messy. :)
:O hope that didn’t loose any eggs for the egg hunts :P

Had a 5.7 aftershock about an hour and a half ago. Quite strong but not as long. Here’s a MAP and more details.
