This just in, the California Cell Phone Law (which goes into effect July 1st, 2008) is causing companies to change their cell phone policies. One local city is providing hands-free devices to use with city issued cell phones. My company has a different approach.
Please note that in light of the new California cell phone law, effective July 1, 2008, [my company] has adopted a new “Cell Phone/Hand Held Device Use Policy”. Effective July 1, 2008, staff are prohibited from using cell phones or PDAs (personal or company owned) while driving on Company business and/or Company time. Please note that the Company policy does NOT allow for use even if a hands-free device is used. Anyone who is found to be in violation of the policy may be subject to disciplinary action.
The complete policy may be viewed on the HR page of the [company site]. Please see your HR Manager if you have any questions.
