In response to my first edition Chronicle of Narnia books someone asked if they included a frontispiece (Don’t worry, I had to look it up too). A frontispiece is a decorative illustration facing a book’s title page. The frontispiece is the verso (left-hand page) opposite the recto title page. Elaborate engraved frontispieces were in frequent use, especially in Bibles and in scholarly books, and many are masterpieces of engraving. [fruhn-tis-pees]
Since they asked to see copies of them, I thought I’d share it with the world – or at least the two or three people who read this (usually by mistake)
Woah, how’d I end up here again? ;)
