Tuesday 28 | Checking Out Early?
I was over at Rustbelt Ramblings and came across this great post about supermarkets and the afterlife.
At check-out time in the supermarket I follow these simple rules:
a) Go to the shortest queue.
b) If all queues are lenghty, proceed to the hottest cashier.
c) If accompanied by spouse, proceed to homeliest cashier.
*On gub’ment cheque [...] -
Tuesday 28 | Upgrading – Not So Much
So you may have noticed that the site was a little funky these past 24 hours. Not sure why but the gallery2 upgrade did not go so well. Eventually I had to do a fresh install of gallery2 2.0.3 (not 2.1.0 as expected). And since I did not upgrade to 2.1.0 as [...]

Friday 24 | Serving Children
In the past, we’ve gotten onto topics like how old God is and what Jesus looks like or is speeding a sin and why do we pray. None of these are too unusual or particullarly challenging but recently, I found myself trying to explain a very difficult topic – the problem of evil.

Friday 24 | Benediction by Mike
This is part of a series on Benadictions. The following benediction was prepared by my friend “cool” Mike (we have several Mikes in our church). It is taken from 1 Peter 1:3, 1 Peter 1:8, Hebrews 6:19, 1 John 3:3
May God, who has caused you to be born again to a [...] -

Tuesday 21 | Hokey Pokey
Borrowed this from Scroobious Scrivenings
The following is from the Washington Post Style Invitational contest that asked readers to submit “instructions” for something (anything), but written in the style of a famous person. The winning entry was The Hokey Pokey (as written by William Shakespeare).
O proud left foot, that ventures quick within
Then soon upon [...] -
Friday 17 | Happy Irish for a Day – Day
I was over at Sniker Doodles this morning and found some St.Patricks Day fun. Here are a couple of examples.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Paddy was driving down the street in a sweat because he had an important meeting and couldn’t find a parking place. Looking up to heaven he said, “Lord take pity on me. If you find [...] -
Wednesday 15 | The Proposal
This is from the archives…
Our church meets at 11:30am, so every Sunday before church, the two of us regularly meet in a park near our apartments to study the bible together.
On this particular Sunday, I decided it would be good to go over some scripture that was related to marriage. We’ve been openly talking [...] -
Wednesday 15 | My First Benediction
As part of our Men’s group each week, someone volunteers to do the benediction for the following week. This is more than a formality, it is an exercise in studying scripture.
1 : the invocation of a blessing; especially : the short blessing with which public worship is concluded
2 : something that [...] -
Wednesday 1 | iBegin – Toronto
It turns out that a lot of my visitors come from Canada and so I thought I would share this up-and-comming new resource. It’s called iBegin and is a real life community reference site. You can search local services such as hotels and restaurants, but more importantly, you can submit and review them [...]
