My First iPod

I got my very first iPod for my birthday (Nov 22) and was very excited. The first thing I learned was probably the most important.

Most problems with iPod can be solved by resetting it.
To reset iPod:
1 Connect iPod to a power outlet using the iPod Power Adapter.
2 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (set it to Hold, then turn it off again).
3 Press and hold the Select and Menu buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the
Apple logo appears.

When I first plugged it in, I did not get the results I was expecting. Some how the connection between my iPod and my PC was not entirely, how can I put this… not entirely correct. After much soul searching (and cursing) I finally found the problem. It turns out I am clueless. Actually, I was clueless. You see, having never used an iPod, I had no way of knowing I had done something wrong or that it simply wasn’t working right.

Now keep in mind that I does work and that the problem was easily soved. I just think that the quoted part of the manual (a svelte 6 page CD insert with lots of white space) should be highlighted or made more prominant. After all, “most problems with iPod can be solved by resetting it”.
